In some instances, the repairs can be completed without decryption (such as BitLocker). If you work for a business that uses BitLocker, in order to repair your PCs, I would need access to the BitLocker decryption keys. I’ve worked with some businesses that no longer have an I.T. department, and if your last administrator has those decryption keys, we would need to obtain them or refresh the computer (which would lead to likely data loss).
